St Stephen's in Lincoln is the largest church in the parish, with a regular attendance of between 50-80 people. We offer a family-friendly eucharistic service that follows the New Zealand Prayer Book. Children are very welcome to our weekly Sunday School lessons with Sue and the team. Musically we have a mixture of classic hymns from the organ and some modern classics with piano and guitar.
The church itself was designed by Mr B W Mountfort (who designed the Christchurch Cathedral and Museum buildings). It was officially opened in 1877, and underwent a significant extension in 1999. If you'd like to know more of the history of the building please download a copy of the history below.
